Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables Children Book Cover Redesign

About the Creative Process

As a fan of Anne of Green Gables, I saw a chance to create a children’s book cover that captured the charm and spirit of Anne’s world. While this project isn’t for a real publication, it was an exciting exercise in visual storytelling and an opportunity to showcase my illustration skills. Who knows maybe one day I’ll get to bring a classic like this to life on an actual book cover!

Her iconic look her red hair in braids, straw hat, and freckled face which instantly evokes her personality: youthful, imaginative, and full of life. Her expression appears thoughtful and slightly wistful, hinting at her depth and curiosity.

The soft, earthy colors convey a nostalgic, pastoral feel that suits the setting of Anne of Green Gables. The use of greens, yellows, and browns mirrors the natural, rural environment of Green Gables, enhancing the connection to the story's setting. The stylized background with rolling green hills and a winding path evokes the countryside, suggesting Anne's love of nature and adventure. The curved lines and simple shapes give it a friendly, approachable feel, perfect for a children’s book.

The title text, with its rustic, bold font and slightly vintage vibe, complements the illustration’s classic look. Placing the text near Anne, but not overlapping her face, maintains a clean layout that keeps the focus on her character. Overall, this design beautifully combines classic elements with a warm, child-friendly style. It showcases Anne's character and the world she inhabits, making it both inviting for young readers and faithful to the spirit of Anne of Green Gables. This design would be a charming addition to your portfolio, illustrating your ability to blend character-driven storytelling with appealing visual design.
